Security statement

To see how we protect your personal details please see our privacy statement.

Donations and membership subscription payments made online by credit card are handled on our behalf through the secure servers of SECPay. HDRA do not receive your credit card details.

SECPay use Thawte Certificates to ensure privacy during the transmission of credit card numbers. At no point during or after card processing are card details stored in plain text. Your credit card details are communicated directly between your computer and Secpay's secure server using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. The security of the connection will be confirmed by the presence of the padlock icon () in the lower right hand corner of your browser. Secpay are approved by many UK clearing banks including Bank of Scotland, Natwest Streamline and Barclays Merchant Services.

If you are still concerned about the security of supplying your credit card details on line, we also accept cheques, direct debit payments and credit card details through the post using our downloadable membership enrolment form.

How do I know that my credit card details are safe?

All your card details will be stored in encrypted format and never held as plain text on any storage mechanisms on the company computer systems. SECPay use Thawte Certicates and a minimum of 40 bit encryption for encrypting credit card numbers during transmission. The strength of encryption is dependent on the strength of the browser.

You can check the validity of the site security certificate yourself on the page where you add your credit card details. This will state that the connection is encrypted. Follow the instructions below depending on which browser you are using.

You can only view the site certificate on the page where you enter your credit card details

If you have further questions please email Simon Levermore, HDRA's webmaster, at webmaster@hdra.org.uk.
